Field Trip to Honey Brook

Social Studies and Reading Come Alive!
First stop - checking out the tornado pics on the wall behind everyone and getting the scoop from Ron - our delightful tour guide

Charles trying to harness his excitement
My students favorite fashion accessory - the hairnet

The group - with the lovely hairnets

Learning about the Assembly Line

Part of a dry (product) assembly line

A silo full of dry ingredient!

A super cool machine that helps make the assembly line move things along FAST

A bag full of more bags

Checking out the warehouse that was hit by a tornado

Tornadoes are part of our Reading Theme: "Nature's Fury"

The soup room - Ron is holding a one-ounce spice bag

More of the soup room

Learning about sugar cane, sorghum, and molasses - 3 ingredients we read about in our read aloud book, "Swiss Family Robinson"

The molasses assembly line - we've been studying Henry Ford in Social Studies and his famous phrase, "We can do it better!" Part of doing things better involved using assembly lines.

My parents and sisters provided a yummy pizza lunch!
We had the delicious opportunity of trying the yummy caramel the company makes!

After our lunch, we took a trip to the main floor to the outlet store.

Ready to make some purchases

Joshua buying some candy for himself AND Miss Ashley - how generous!

Jason modeling the pancake and waffle syrup

Check out that line at the checkout!

And, finally - our goodies bag....

....They gave us to take home!
