Good Grief!

In Social Studies, we're in the thick of the 1950s. We've read about many fun things that were invented or introduced in the 1950s...Velcro, hula hoops, Legos, PlayDoh, Barbie, and Good Ol' Charlie Brown of the Peanuts comic strip.

I showed the class how to draw Snoopy by using the numbers 25. http//www.youtube.com/watch?v=we6NubIndag

Then we watched a "Charlie Brown" tutorial on YouTube. Check it out. It's pretty cool. Even my so-called non-drawers did an amazing job!

You Don't Want to Miss Out

You won't want to miss our very first AUCTION at LCCS! It's always a fun time and we REALLY need 5th grade to help carry their class basket at the Auction! I've been hearing terrible rumors that some of my 5th graders won't be coming to the Auction on Friday or Saturday. May it not be so!
Looking forward to a great turnout at the Auction AND for one of my 5th graders to bid on MY GIFT CERTIFICATE: A day and a night away at Ocean City, New Jersey with the Mellettes and a friend of your choice!

Soul Surfer

I highly recommend this new movie "SOUL SUFER". We took our two children - ages 6 and 9 - to see it yesterday and we cried like babies! It was so good! It even included one of the songs we sang at church yesterday, "Blessed Be Your Name".

In this month's Scholastic Book Club flyer, you'll find Bethany Hamilton's autobiography, "Soul Surfer". Check it out online at www.scholastic.com/bookclubs. Use our classroom identification code: HFJX9 to purchase this wonderful book!
