January 6 is Mexican King Day - A day when the good people of Mexico recognize the gifts the wise men brought to the Child, Jesus.
Mrs. Glessner (Thank you!) made Mexican King Cake - it's shaped like a wreath and has a plastic baby "Jesus" hidden inside. Mrs. Heck cut the cake into 13 pieces (Caleb was sick...sniff...sniff - we sure missed him). The student who found the "Baby Jesus" was crowned King or Queen for the day.
Who found it?
The humble QUEEN JANAE!!!
The humble QUEEN JANAE!!!
Her reign only lasted a day, but she ruled with kindness, humility and love.
As a class, we wanted to encourage the parents of our class missionary - Jen Bitterman. Jen serves in Albania and was struck very ill last week. She was hospitalized for a whole week! Since we can see Jen's parents' home from our classroom window, my students decided to write letters and bring flowers to Jen's mom.
Here we are posing in the Bitterman's backyard

And, here we are with Mrs. Bitterman! It was a fun visit.
