Injuries in Fifth Grade

We have a lot of injuries in Fifth Grade....like Caleb slammed the car door on his finger and Brooke hurt her finger AND ankle in soccer! Now, Brooke has crutches and a finger cast! Caleb had a finger cast, too, but now has his off. So, hopefully, we will have NO MORE injuries in our class.

This Week

This week it was election day! We had a vote. It was cool because in our class Tom Corbett won and for the real vote, he won for real. We also learned about the kid who had two fish and five loaves of bread. We got to try bread and fish sticks in bible class. It was good. Brooke has crutches because she broke her toe in soccer. I got helped her go to each class. Please be praying for her.

Bible Character Party

On 10/29/10 the Fifth Grade class had their Bible Character Party. Each participant dressed up as their hero in the Bible. Also, the Fifth Grade class had to answer a couple questions on a index card. Thanks to whoever helped us with the costumes and for those people who helped with snacks. The party was awesome!!!

Some people dressed up as Bible characters some people didn't recognize. A few girls even dressed up like Queen Esther! Students dressed up as Noah, an Angel, Joseph, Caleb, a shepherd, and plenty others! Thanks again for all participants!

Not only the Bible Character Party was today but the Fifth Grade class also had the REWARD RAFFLE! Everyone got at least 3 prizes. But some people even got 4 prizes! Some of the rewards were Krazy Straw cups, stickers, 5th grade photo albums, Ty Silly Bandz, a Wal-Mart gift card, lunch tickets and much, much more! Thanks, Mrs. Mellette for all the prizes! And parents, just so you know, the fifth grade class gets raffle tickets for good behavior. So make sure your child has good behavior!!

Reminder About the Upcoming Character Day

My precious fifth graders are fretting about the upcoming
Character Day on Friday....
"Mrs. Mellette, I don't know if I can dress up...it's too hard!"
(Excuse the exaggeration of the crying child above - I just stuck it in there for fun!)

Let me put you all to rest.

To put together a costume for a Biblical character, use whatever materials you have at home. Please don't feel like you need to go out and buy something for Character Day. Many of the costumes can be made simply out of old bedsheets or robes. You can even hold things together using an old tie or piece of rope. Have fun with it!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask!

Working Hard on the Computer

Today is Friday and my delightful 5th grade students are busy typing their Tall Tales stories on the computer. We're working in the computer lab. I have a grand view of them all as I'm sitting in the very back row. From here I observe all of their monitors. Some students have two paragraphs typed, others have only their title typed. All are working at their own pace and all of them are working diligently to get their stories typed. It's a joy to see them working with such care and concern. I sure do love this class!

Raffle Award Time

I'm excited about the Reward Raffle next Friday. If you want to know more about the reward I will tell you more about it. We have been collecting raffle tickets. We put them into a jar or something and someone's name is picked. The person's name that is picked gets the prize. I'm excited for next Friday.
